Women’s Campaign International is looking for highly motivated people to help us with our mission. Our internship provides you with the opportunity to learn excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a friendly, professional and multicultural environment. The organization accepts internship applications on a rolling basis.

Executive Internship

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing and organizing the President’s daily operations, office and files
  • Managing the President’s schedule and contacts
  • Maintaining the President’s contacts with WCI staff
  • Coordinating tasks with other WCI staff members
  • Making calls and sending correspondences on behalf of the President
  • Photocopying, compiling, and mailing of WCI informational packets
  • Assisting in the preparation and facilitation of WCI’s four annual board meetings
  • Recording and typing minutes at WCI board and staff meetings
  • Assisting in grant research and proposals
  • Conducting research for current and potential programs and partnerships
  • Assisting with WCI program development and support
  • Other writing and editing tasks as assigned
  • Filing, answering phones, and general office assistance

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • High level of organizational skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet usage
  • Strong research skills, including internet research; ability to determine reliable sources
  • Quick learner
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to maintain open lines of communication with WCI staff (i.e, ask for clarification, and obtain feedback)
  • Interest in and knowledge of gender issues, international relations, international development and/or human rights

Preferred qualifications:

  • International travel experience or experience living abroad
  • Knowledge of a particular region or particular developing countries

As WCI is a small organization, interns will have the opportunity to be deeply involved in all aspects of program development and management.

Hours are flexible, but interns must commit at least 15 hrs/week for a minimum of 12 weeks. Longer commitments preferred. In your cover letter, please specify when you are available to start interning and the hours that you would be available to work each week.

Program Internship

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with program development and support
  • Conducting research for current and potential programs and partnerships
  • Assisting with writing and revising program reports and proposals
  • Other writing and editing tasks as assigned
  • General office assistance

Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Demonstrated interest in and knowledge of gender issues, international relations, international development and/or human rights
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint and internet usage
  • Strong research skills, including internet research; ability to determine reliable sources
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to maintain open lines of communication with WCI staff (i.e, ask for clarification, and obtain feedback)

Development Internship

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in all donor and partner relations
  • Assist in fundraising activities including drafting letters or proposals for sponsorship and funding requests, writing thank you letters, arranging meetings, and putting together packets of information for potential donors
  • Research potential partners or donors and provide summaries for WCI staff when necessary
  • Work with social media intern to develop new ideas for online fundraising
  • Assist in Event Planning. You will play a particularly important role in planning the WCI Annual Fundraising gala which takes place this November.
  • Development interns will also have a chance to explore other areas of WCI operations including programming and social media
  • General office assistance

  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and prioritize tasks

  • Skills/previous experience in fundraising
  • Graphic design skills
  • Skills/previous experience in public relations – particularly donor relations

Social Media Internship

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Write and edit WCI blog posts
  • Maintain WCI’s website (www.womenscampaigninternational.org)
  • Develop online supporter base through social media websites (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc.)
  • Create program e-mails to be sent to WCI supporters
  • Create videos from existing video footage covering WCI programs and events
  • General office assistance

As WCI is a small organization, interns will have the opportunity to be deeply involved in all aspects of program development and management.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in web design
  • Knowledge of strategies to develop and engage WCI supporters through the use of social media sites
  • Experience in video editing
  • Knowledge of graphic design helpful
  • General IT skills helpful
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Interest in and knowledge of gender issues, international relations, international development and/or human rights
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel and internet usage
  • Quick learner

Youth Development Internship

WCI is seeking an intern for its only domestic program, Girls Advocacy and Leadership Series (GALS). As much of the planning will be done in the fall whereas the program is held from January—May, it is ideally a position for both the fall and spring. However, it can be divided between two interns depending on the situation.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with program development and support, particularly in developing an advanced advocacy curriculum
  • Conducting research for potential partnerships and funding opportunities
  • Working directly with the Program Officer to develop and run the GALS Program
  • Assisting with writing and revising program reports and proposals
  • Other writing and editing tasks as assigned
  • General office assistance

Qualifications:

  • Should either be pursuing or have a degree in education, social work, or other related field
  • Demonstrated interest in education development and advocacy
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Self-motivated
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Strong research skills
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and prioritize tasks
  • Ability to maintain open lines of communication with WCI staff (i.e, ask for clarification, and obtain feedback)
  • Good sense of humor

The intern will have the opportunity to work directly with the program director, and will be deeply involved in all aspects of program development and management.

The fall commitment will be approximately 10-12 hrs/week for a minimum of 12 weeks. The spring will see an increase in hours. The intern must attend all sessions of the program, which will consist of five Saturday commitments from 10AM-3PM throughout the spring semester.
